July 1st - Kremmling to Breckinridge, Colorado

Gloria

Left Kremmling at 7:45 am for our 57 mile bike ride.

Alicia's Highlights - Bighorn sheep & girlfriend near Heeney CO. Alicia also saw elk.

Michael's highlights - Bighorn sheep & a bike path that got us off road. A great bike path with beautiful scenery runs from Silverthorne to Breckenridge.  A young girl was selling cold drinks on the side of the bike path.  Michael just can't pass up children at lemonade/ cold drink stands.

Gloria's highlights - seeing Alicia's red truck every 5-6 miles

Biggest highlight!  Lots of folks joined today - Craig Shapiro from the Washington, DC area; two of Eric's brothers and their wives.  Eric's fiancée, Megan.  Biggest surprise was that Elias, Tuda & Zaki Durry came with Carl and Tinbet Tinstman.

Several of us had an excellent dinner at the same restaurant where we dined 10 years ago when the big CDC group came.  Rumors of someone renting an electric bike swirled at dinner.  Some "hydrating" occurred~

Breckenridge is much more touristy than I remember 10 years ago.  And we caught it on July 4th weekend!

  1. I seem to remember actually seeing an electric bike in use, but maybe the altitude was getting to me. Alicia

  2. Carl here, just to confirm that the electric bike rumour was indeed true: Elias rented it in Boulder, worried that Carl would not make it up Hoosier Pass otherwise. Good call, Elias. Even more interesting was our stop at the casinos in Central City on the way to Breckenridge, watching one of us lose some pocket change! And then trying to locate everybody in Breck since we were all at different hotels it seemed like!

    1. Hi Carl - hope you guys all made it back safely and without incident. Yes - there was definitely an electric bike on Hoosier Pass on July 1st. It was definitely senior moment...not with regard to memory, but with regard to bike legs. Carl...we're just glad you came along for the fun! Wish we could have been with you at the casino but biking to Central City might have doubly taxed our bike legs. Luckily we found everyone in Breck and had a great dinner. The picture the next morning before taking on Hoosier Pass is priceless! Gloria
