Gloria
Late start - no surprise with the additional folks. Riders today were Gloria, Michael & Eric joined once again by Craig and Eric's two brothers Kim & Jeff, along with Zaki Durry and Carl Tinstman.
Some of us were not prepared for the effects of the altitude, plus we had a 2,000 foot climb. We ended up stopping every 1/2 mile or so just so we could breathe...
and we crossed the highest continental divide on our trip.
Still...it was fun - especially the downhill...although it would have been much better if there weren't so many cars.
No wildlife sightings today...but we saw lots of tourists who were using the same road we were using because there often was no shoulder.
Our mileage was 22. Ten miles uphill and 12 miles downhill. Once we passed the town of Alma, we were able to leisurely ride on a bike path. Always nice~
Some of us are concerned about one person who rode an electric bike. Is that cheating? Bob would have certainly given that person a hard time. He also would have laughed his a** off!
The hero of my day was Zaki. He only arrived in Colorado 24-ish hours before attempting to ride up an 11,539 foot Hoosier Pass. And...he made it! Kudos to you, Zaki!
What a great life!
