This morning we had a very early start. The temperature was expected to reach 100 degrees today so we were on the road by 5:10 a.m.
More cars than expected were on the road between 5 and 7 a.m. There are many prisons in this area and I wondered if the traffic was related to shifts ending and starting at the prisons. It is sad to think of the number of people that are incarcerated in these huge prison complexes.
The road's shoulders were not so great for the first part of the trip but they were much better for the last 30 miles.
We had breakfast at the Two Sisters Restaurant where the early bird special was unbeatable. 1 egg, 1 huge pancake, 1 piece of bacon, and 1 sausage was only $3.95.
Today was our first no SAG day since West Yellowstone. This morning allowed us to REALLY appreciate all the SAG drivers who have joined us along the way. Thank you all!!!!
We saw a doe with 2 fawns, multiple bucks, and many other animals, mostly near Florence. We really needed Alicia to determine whether we were seeing deer or antelope. We also saw two dead skunks in the middle of the road. However we did not need Alicia to help identify them. It almost made me want to sing a certain song.
The views changed from mountainous to slightly hilly plains today. There were no killer climbs and the ride was mostly downhill for a good 30 miles.
Pretty soon we will be in Kansas and wishing for some uphills and downhills. And we will definitely be wishing for the cooler weather found in the mountains. All of us have sent our cold weather clothes home in the last few days. And we are delighted to not have to carry them.

We were happy to arrive at our hotel in Pueblo by 11:30 am. Regretfully that also meant that Craig would soon be leaving us. Both we and Craig are sad about this. We said goodbyes after a fine lunch at Nachos Restaurant. We are hoping he will be able to join us later in the trip. It was great to have you with us, Craig!
It has been another great day. The laundry is almost done and it is almost time for dinner. It's amazing how often eating is a part of our conversation. Eating and snacks are a critical part of every day.
