Denise (what a superwoman) arrived at the lovely Riverview Motel this morning at 6:45. As part of the SAG today, we decided to offload our saddle bags in preparation for a 2500 ft climb up to Grangeville. We left the Motel around 7 am in order to beat the rain that was predicted for today.
The first 30+ miles were mostly downhill or flat. The real fun started after we passed the little town of White Bird. That's where the uphill switchbacks began...and they never seemed to end! We went uphill for the next 10 miles. It was grueling and slow for me (Gloria), but seemingly easy peasy for Eric and Michael. They literally flew up those hills! Denise was always strategically parked just when I needed a break. Thanks, Denise!
The scenery today was magnificent! If someone had told me that Idaho could be this beautiful, I would have thought they were crazy. The part of Idaho that we have seen has been amazing! And the people are super nice...live and learn.
We continue to meet up briefly with cyclists racing across America. Every day we learn something new. Many of them are sleeping in the post offices in these small towns. Some are only getting 2-3 hours of sleep a night. Denise offers each and every one of them something whenever they pass her RV.
We made it to our hotel just as the rain was starting (what luck). Tonight we are at the Grangeville Super 8 Motel. It has a pool and a hot tub. We have made use of both. Soon we will go out to find a dinner establishment and talk strategy for tomorrow's ride to Lowell - our last town in Idaho.
Life is great!

Sounds like that route is a special place all its own. I bet those other cyclists were as happy to see Denise as you were. Keep up the good work. (I do realise you're in Wyoming and I'm back here in Idaho, but I'm catching up. (With blog reading, no peddling required.)
