June 3rd & 4th - Rest Day & Baker City to Halfway

On Saturday after breakfast, we said goodbye to Brent, Deb, Valerie, Max and Tom Eng.  A very sad event indeed.  Thanks for joining us!  We will miss your smiling faces, strong legs and excellent SAG support.

We have been joined by Denise Johnson, who came with her RV that "drives like a car" filled with lots of eating goodies (homemade poppyseed cake and banana bread - yum).  Her RV has a bathroom and everything!  Welcome, Denise:-)

Here is today's blog poem that was written by Sean Keegan:

Today we got up, at an ungodly hour,
To miss the thunderstorm, and avoid a shower,
But when the heat came, we did not cower,
We pressed forward, with unfaltering power,
“We” of course, being me, Michael, Eric and Gloria,
Without Tim and Tom, we experienced much euphoria,
The two masterminds, drove straight to the destination,
And met us halfway, a fitting situation,
“There are seven miles of seven percent grade left”, retorted one,
And the other followed, “the REAL hills have yet to come”,
But that we did not fear, for right on our rear,
Was Denise, driving an RV full of grub and cheer,
A gourmet SAG-ger, some might name,
But I’ll leave it at that, to save her from fame,
Now six strong, we continued downstream,
Until we hit rock bottom, or it would seem,
Full of water and nutrition, we began our mission,
To ascend the un-ascendable, despite our intuition,
The climb was grueling, and required much fueling,
But we finally made it, without too much drooling,
With snow-capped peaks in the background,
The descent into town was bitterly picturesque,
As we slowly entered the unfound,

We often wondered, “Where lay the stressed?”

Tomorrow we enter Idaho and a new time zone.  Life is truly great!
