August 4 - Hodgenville, KY to Bardstown, KY

Gloria

Today was definitely different.  We were worried about rain, so we slept in and left our cozy cabin around 9 am.  We had a shorter ride (37 miles) so weren't so concerned about getting to Bardstown too late for our visitors.

Our chosen route today was not the ACA route.  It worked out great...less cars and less rain.  There were a few dogs but most were tied up or fenced in.  It was a pleasant riding day.

We arrived in Bardstown around 1:45.  We ate a late lunch, made a dinner reservation for 14 people (11 folks are joining us tonight), then checked into the hotel.

Right after we checked in, people started arriving.  I met Debbie, who is the friend of my friend, Karen.  Karen and I taught together at Laurel Ridge Elementary over 20 years ago.  The next arrivals were Evelyn (Bi Bi) and Ron.  Evelyn was central in helping to facilitate my getting together with Bob.  She worked at the same Newark VD clinic where Bob and I met over 40 years ago.

While we were having Happy Hour, Dan, Margie, Steve, Paula and Kathy (all CDC employees except Dan) arrived.  The last arrivals were Stacey and Marcus.  Apparently traffic was terrible going through Chattanooga.  We're just glad they all got here safely.

After Happy Hour we walked across the street from the hotel to Umami Steak and Sushi Restaurant.  A wonderful hibachi dinner was had by all.

It's great to share good food and good times with wonderful friends and family!
