August 8 - Berea, KY to Beattyville, KY

Written by guest bloggers Paula and Steve Yoon

Beautiful day for a bike ride from Berea to Beattyville. Rode through the Daniel Boone state forest and stopped for a picnic lunch at a library in McKee.

As we were leaving the librarian said, "those roads are busy I'll pray for you." Riding through a beautiful valley Steve and Dan got chased by a mama deer and two fawns.

Dinner was at Billy's. Catfish, meatloaf, beans and cornbread.

Spent the night at Travel Wise Motel with a gorgeous view of Dairy Queen across the street. Hoss, the proprietor, commented on Steve's Sierra Nevada biking shirt and asked if he liked those fancy beers. He then pulled out a bottle of Sierra Nevada beer from his refrigerator and said he'd had it for months and nobody wanted it. Everybody around here drinks Bud Light!

We had to say goodbye to Ron and Bibi and we will miss their great shuttle service and early-morning food run for our hot coffee and bagels. Ron, also known as Colombo, entertained us with his stories about growing up in New Jersey.
